this is a gallery of three-dimensional magnitude and phase response plots for various families of math functions. i graphed them as experiments just out of curiosity, to hopefully induce some intuition about how complex functions behave. the results were so surprisingly beautiful that i proceeded to obsessively graph all the functions i could think of. i have never studied complex analysis; i only know how to apply various signal processing tricks such as laplace transforms and z-transforms. i would like to know why exactly these graphs look the way they do. if you've studied complex analysis, please post to the forums and explain some of these pictures to me ... i want to understand! to browse the many questions on my mind, click on the "observations" link in each gallery section, right under the function family name.
